The Society's provision of training over the last number of years has been influenced by the Governments strategy to improve levels of literacy and numeracy amongst the adult population in Northern Ireland. This has led to the Society obtaining accreditation for a new training programme called "Essential Skills required for Living". This programme has in total 27 accredited training units which can be accessed by the participants.
All new participants to the organisation must undertake the first unit which is Induction to the training organisation. This unit is aimed at enhancing participant’s knowledge of the services offered to them by the Orchardville Society. This ensures that every participant can achieve a nationally accredited qualification.
The Programme has been designed in such a manner that participants are not required to complete all of the remaining units. Participants can decide to complete either one or a number of units during the next year or following years.

> What is ICT? > Basic Components > Working with the desktop > Word Processing > Data Entry > Internet and E-mail
- Office Skills
> Using the telephone in a business context > Processing a business letter > Filing documents
- General Skills
> An introduction to Health and Safety > Practical Health and Safety > Team Work
