CEO Update on COVID-19 – October 2020
We were delighted to welcome participants back over the summer months, re-open our social businesses, support participants at work and to restart our social clubs.
The safety of our participants, staff, volunteers, and customers remains our main focus and we keep our working practices under regular review, and we continue to be guided by public health advice.
I have been extremely proud and inspired by how our participants, their families , our staff, volunteers and customers have adjusted to the “new normal” – maintaining social distance, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitiser and wearing of face coverings where appropriate, to name a few of the new measures in place.
While it is essential that we adopt new ways of interacting with each other to protect the health of our community, doing so can bring moments of unease and isolation. There is no blueprint for how to feel at a time like this, and I know this causes stress and anxiety for all of us. Like you, my list of worries right now is long – from my family and friends, to the safety of you, my colleagues, and the safety of our participants, volunteers, and customers.
In these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to look after our mental health – stay connected, talk about your worries, and look after your body. Please do not put on a brave face to mask the way you feel.
