CEO’s Christmas and New Year update on services

CEO Update on COVID-19 – December 2020

With a further period of enhanced restrictions being introduced from 26th December 2020, we have made the decision to support our participants virtually during our first week back on Monday 4th January. As a result, our buildings will remain closed to participants from 4th to 8th January 2021 inclusive.

Whilst this is not how we wanted to start the new year, we believe that this is the safest option and will allow us the time to fully evaluate the new restrictions and review our risk assessments.

We hope to re-commence socially distanced group activity and training on Monday 11th January, subject to government advice.

Our cafes will revert again to a takeaway and delivery service only and our participants in Employment will continue to be supported in the safest way possible for them, our staff, and their employers.

We appreciate that this period of enhanced restrictions has the potential to bring feelings of anxiety, loneliness and worry and it is more important than ever to look after our mental wellbeing – stay connected, talk about our worries, and look after our physical health.

The safety of our participants, staff, volunteers, customers, and employers remains our main focus and we will keep our working practices under regular review as we continue to be guided by public health advice.

Finally, I want to say once again that I am very proud and inspired by how our participants, their families, our staff, volunteers, and customers have adjusted to the challenges of 2020 and to the “new normal.”

Thank you all for your continued commitment to keeping us all safe.

Wishing you all a very safe and happy Christmas.

Joan McGinn
